ANTONIO BASCARO

Last year, Antonio Bascaro, 84, was released after serving 39 years in prison, the longest-known US jail sentence for a nonviolent marijuana conviction. At the time of his conviction, Antonio had no prior criminal record.

After spending nearly four decades behind bars, when he was finally released this summer he faced the possibility of deportation as a Cuban citizen. Luckily he is now truly free and reunited with his family in Miami.
