OUR IMPACT

OUR IMPACT

POLICY

Our policy team focuses on legislation that redresses the harms caused by prohibition. We work with stakeholders across the country to pass and implement bills that will (1) provide release for individuals still incarcerated for now legal activity, and (2) automatically clear these criminal convictions.

LEGAL

Our legal release efforts focus on clemency initiatives at the state and federal level, filing motions for compassionate release, and record relief for individuals. This all made possible through our Cannabis Justice Initiative in partnership with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL).

REENTRY

Our reentry resources are focused on ensuring individuals who have been negatively impacted by the War on Drugs have the financial support, tools and resources they need to successfully rebuild their lives post-incarceration.

ADVOCACY

Through a variety of advocacy campaigns, ranging from letter writing drives, constituent storytelling, and direct actions, we raise public awareness of the harsh reality of cannabis-related incarceration and empower our supporters to join our fight to secure the full freedom of the communities we serve.

ADVOCACY SPOTLIGHT:

#FREEKEVINALLEN

Kevin Allen is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole after he was convicted in 2014 of selling $20 worth of marijuana. But, a newly-enacted law in Louisiana provides an avenue for Allen to remedy his situation and work with the District Attorney’s office to come to a mutually agreed upon “post-conviction plea agreement.”

Now, we need your voice to put public pressure on DA Marvin to #FreeKevinAllen. The more people who put pressure on DA Marvin’s office to release Kevin Allen from incarceration, the more likely he is to use his power to #FreeKevinAllen.
